Parish Nurse Ministry
A parish nurse focuses on the whole person to emphasize wellness, disease prevention, and health promotion, including healthy spirituality.
Roles of the parish nurse:
- Integrator of Faith and Health – works to improve health of mind, body, and spirit.
- Health Educator – provides educational opportunities on various health related topics.
- Health Counselor – discusses health concerns and encourages a healthy lifestyle.
- Health Advocate – speaks out to assist others in obtaining needed health care.
- Referral Advisor – provides referral to healthcare and social services as needed.
- Volunteer care coordinator – coordinates care for those in need.
- Developer of support groups – facilitates support groups based on the church community’s need.
